Is there an advantage great enough to outweigh the cost difference of Admire in furrow at $12 or so dollars/acre versus Ag Logic at $35.00/acre?
Jordan:
We feel like imidacloprid works about half as good as it used to on thrips. It almost always requires a follow up with acephate postemergence. AgLogic is still outstanding on thrips. Thrips have some resistance to acephate in cotton. Not sure how widespread. So imidacloprid followed by acephate might leave a grower vulnerable. AgLogic or Thimet or Vydate are alternatives to imidacloprid. Of these, AgLogic suppresses nematodes. So, in some fields AgLogic is a very good option even at a higher cost.
Jordan update:
Vydate can suppress nematodes. However, my understanding is that suppression of nematodes is likely lower than other options when using Vydate. Suppression of nematodes with Velum has been inconsistent in our research. The general consensus is that Velum does not suppress nematodes more than AgLogic. I will follow up with more information. The above comments are relative to in-furrow applications.
